In an endeavor that melds art with advocacy, Colors of Connection, in collaboration with Tulizo Elle Space, has orchestrated a vibrant initiative in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo that has girls' rights on display on a massive scale.

Walking through the neighborhood, you’ll spot two large murals that highlight a local Girls’ Bill of Rights, inspired by The Global Girls’ Bill of Rights®. These artworks were conceived and painted by girls.

Teens Create Children’s Book Teaching Difference Between Safe and Unsafe Touch

Safiya Speaks Up! is a children’s book and accompanying mentors’ guide to help young girls learn how to respond to sexual and domestic violence. Inspired by The Global Girls’ Bill of Rights® #7, five She’s the First Girl Activist Fellows decided to write a children’s book for younger audiences to learn about safe and unsafe touch and identifying a safe adult. They hope that this resource will make this difficult conversation more accessible and easier to have with young children.

Girls Organize Global Art Shows About Reproductive Rights

Reproduce This! is an art gallery experience produced by a team of girls, for girls. These girls are participants in She’s the First’s Girl Activist Fellowship program, through which they spent a a year learning how to imagine, plan, and execute an activism campaign. Girls from around the world submitted more than 120 artworks on the topic of sexual health and reproductive rights; 19 pieces were selected by a panel of their peers to be included in simultaneous gallery shows. Unique to the reproductive rights conversation, the Reproduce This! campaign highlights the perspectives and experiences of girls who are hearing about and impacted by this politicized debate.
